All right, here we go. The robot's crown is one of those parts that just did not sit well with me. For television purposes, it was fine. It was never shown that close up and all they really needed was something reflective that rotated. Therefore, a shiny piece of sheet metal with rivets was o.k. For me, a shiny piece of sheet metal with rivets just wasn't going to cut it. The basic shape was o.k. it just needed more detail, something to make it look like it served some real purpose. Being at the top of the bubble and opened in a sort of flower like fashion implied to me that is was some sort of collector, whether it be to analyze radiation or light waves or perhaps a solar collector as a power source. So I thought if I could make it look more like that while still being a shiny rotating thing it would be closer to what I always perceived the original robot's crown to be.
