I decided before I even began work on my robot that I should first experiement with a much smaller project, sort of working in the medium as it were, to get a feel for what was ahead. I decided to build a table base for an amoeba shaped glass table top I had. I wanted it to look like it was built from "spaceship wreckage". This offered me an excellent opportunity to see just what it takes to make something made of wood look like it is made of metal, exactly what I would be doing with the robots tread section. It also gives me a chance to show off a table I think came out pretty cool.
Lots of plastic wood filler, lots of primer, LOTS of sanding. Good to know. I now felt much more prepared to build the foot section for my robot. (I have to say I love this table!)
